Scott D. Winston, M.D. returned to his hometown of Sheridan in 1990 to establish The Winston Clinic. There had not been a new physician settle in Sheridan in 26 years when he came back. The clinic started with 5 employees and now has 40 full time employees, 2 lab associates with LapCorp, and 6 mid-level providers. In 2010 a 5,000 square foot addition was completed and another 1,500 square foot added in 2016. The Winston Clinic offers a variety of services from Wellness visits to Acute Care Visits including treatment of migraines, kidney stones, fractures, etc. They also have a full time Care Manager to assist with medication management and assistance after E.R. and hospitalization visits. The Winston Clinic was one of the first two privately owned clinics in Arkansas selected by Aledade, a national Accountable Care Organization to work with Medicare at a national level to manage patients to save tax payer money and provider chronic care management to those patients.

Scott is married to Kelly Jean (Allen) and together they have 4 adult children; Chris, Mandy, Jessica, Jackson and 3 grandchildren, Hudson, August, and Lincoln. 

His hobbies include raising bucking bulls and entering them in competition across the US. He has entered bulls in competitions in 14 different states in the past 6 years and has had bulls at the PBR World Finals in Las Vegas.

His other business interests include him being a Firehouse Subs Area Representative for Arkansas and 6 adjoining states as well as building a subdivision in Sheridan, and land/timber management.

  • Baptist Medical Center; June 1981-August 1981. Externship in Family Practice and Emergency Medicine
  • Winston, Inc.; June 1987-August 1979. Propane sales and services, appliance sales and service, customer relations and collections.
  • 1990 to present as owner of The Winston Clinic, P.A.

Lauren K. Garner, APRN

Lauren K. Garner, APRN

Lauren Garner is an Advanced Nurse Practitioner at the Winston Clinic who specializes in and is passionate about family practice by providing compassionate care for the community with a focus on health and wellness throughout the lifespan.

Lauren has been affiliated with the clinic since 2014. She previously practiced as an RN at UAMS in Little Rock and St. Bernard’s hospital in Jonesboro earning valuable experience in medical/surgical and labor and delivery specialties. She earned her BSN at Arkansas State University in 2010 and obtained her MSN in 2014 at Arkansas State as well. Having previous experience as a personal trainer, Lauren has a strong interest in promoting health and fitness for her patients along with a specific devotion for diabetes management. Lauren is also certified in administration of cosmetic Botox by the International Association of Physicians in Aesthetic Medicine and a current member of the IAPAM. She is the owner and CEO of LG Aesthetics. Brittney D. Hensley, APRN

Brittney D. Hensley, APRN

Brittney D. Hensley is an Advanced Nurse Practitioner. She is originally from Poyen but now lives in Sheridan with her husband and their two girls. In her free time she likes to travel, read, garden, Crossfit, and do pretty much anything and everything with her family. Brittney went to undergraduate school at Henderson State University, receiving her Bachelors of Science in Nursing. She practiced as an ICU nurse, a clinical coordinator/charge nurse, and a clinical Nurse Educator for 6 years before receiving her Masters of Science in Nursing from the University of Central Arkansas. She began working for The Winston Clinic in November 2016. Her decision to leave the acute care setting of the hospital was based on her desire to be of greater service to her community and provide meaningful and comprehensive care to each patient. She loves being able to educate and empower her patients to better their health and wellness. Brittney states “Family Medicine met my expectations of what medicine should be, and I was blessed to find a clinic where quality of care is so important.”

Brittney is a Certified Health Coach, and a Certified Diabetic Educator. She is currently working on getting certified in Advanced Diabetes Management. During her clinical training Brittney states one of her preceptors gave her a piece of advice that stays with her every day. This advice was, “Never be afraid to pray with your patients, and never forget that your patients will teach you just as much as any medical textbook.”

Danielle Dixon, PA-C

Danielle Dixon, PA-C

Danielle Dixon, PA-C is a national board-certified Physician Assistant (PA). She graduated from the South College Physician Assistant Program in Knoxville, Tennessee in 2015, with a master of health science degree in Physician Assistant Studies. She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and a member of the Arkansas Academy of Physician Assistants.

Dani and her husband have one son named Knox and are currently expecting a little girl. They have 3 dogs and 1 cat. They enjoy camping, fishing, traveling back to her hometown in Tennessee and just being out doors. Dani takes pride in providing an excellent quality of care for all her patients. 

Josh Garner, APRN-AGACNP

Josh Garner, APRN-AGACNP

Josh Garner is an Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. After graduating from Sheridan High School in 2004, Josh attained his Bachelors of Science in Nursing at Arkansas State University-Jonesboro. He later decided to return to school, furthering his education at The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences-Little Rock, where he completed his degree in Acute-Gerontology Acute Care. He has been a nurse for 10 Years, and has work experience both in and out of the hospital. Josh’s knowledge base comes from multiple nursing environments including Intensive Care, Med Surg, Poison Control, and Level 1 Emergency Trauma. Josh will be treating Acute care needs ranging from the common cold, to more complex issues including fractures, kidney stones, respiratory illnesses, dehydration, Migraine headaches with the use of Intravenous fluid, along with other acute care conditions.

Laura Hensley, APRN

Laura Hensley, APRN

Laura Hensley is an Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner and is certified in Family Practice through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She attended Henderson State University where she received her Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Nursing in 2010. She worked for 5 years at a Traumatic Brain Injury Rehabilitation facility in Benton as a registered nurse and as the Director of Nursing. She then decided to pursue her Master’s of Nursing at the University of Central Arkansas and graduated in 2016. Laura is passionate about family practice and is excited to serve the Sheridan community.

Laura lives in Tull with her husband Tyler and their two dogs, Louis and Clark. They have twin boys named Porter and Jack that keeps them on their toes. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, gardening, and crafting.

Amber Covert, APRN

Amber Covert-Webb is an Advanced Nurse Practitioner and practices in Family Medicine. She graduated from Sheridan High School then received her undergrad at Arkansas Tech. After graduating nursing school, she worked in NICU at Baptist for 5 years. While working she completed Advanced Nurse Practitioner school UAMS. Amber is knowledgeable and compassionate. She enjoys providing quality care for her hometown.

Amber and her husband have 2 dogs named Mack and Jack. They enjoy hiking and being outdoors. They are members at First United Methodist Church in Sheridan. In Amber’s spare time she enjoys shopping and working out.
